Wandr Health and PolarExplorers Partner to Build Curated Travel-Medicine Kits for Polar Expeditions
June 8, 2026 · 4 min read · Wandr Health Communications

Wandr Health, a physician-founded telehealth platform for international travelers, is partnering with PolarExplorers, the company that guided the first commercial North Pole dogsled expedition in 1993 and has since led more than 500 people into the Arctic and Antarctic, to co-design curated travel-medicine kits for polar and cold-weather expeditions. Each kit pairs PolarExplorers' three decades of field experience, what actually goes wrong on the ice and what seasoned guides carry, with Wandr's physician-led prescribing and travel-medicine expertise. A kit is a curated set of prescriptions and supplies matched to a specific expedition and reviewed by US-licensed providers, so travelers prepare the medical side of a trip as deliberately as the gear. Wandr is licensed in all 50 states.

LOS ANGELES, June 8, 2026, Wandr Health today announced a partnership with PolarExplorers, the polar expedition company behind the first commercial North Pole dogsled expedition, to co-design curated travel-medicine kits for polar and cold-weather expeditions. The kits combine PolarExplorers' decades of field experience with Wandr's physician-led travel medicine, so the medical side of an expedition is planned with the same rigor as the route and the gear.
Why generic travel kits fall short on the ice
Most travel-health kits are built for the average trip. A polar expedition is not the average trip. Help can be days away, there is no pharmacy on the ice, and the difference between a manageable problem and a trip-ending one often comes down to what a traveler prepared before departure. Off-the-shelf kits do not reflect what actually happens in remote cold environments. This partnership starts from the opposite end: build the kit from real expedition experience, then put a physician's review behind every item in it.
Wandr's approach
Wandr Health built its service on a simple premise: the medical side of a trip deserves the same preparation as the gear and the route. Most of what an expedition traveler actually needs when they are far from help lives in a guide's head, not in a kit. This partnership puts that knowledge into a curated, physician-reviewed kit, so a traveler leaves with the right plan matched to the expedition rather than a generic box they hope covers it.

How the kits are built
Each curated kit draws on both sides of the partnership. PolarExplorers contributes what it has learned guiding more than 500 people into the Arctic and Antarctic: the practical realities of cold, distance, and self-reliance, and what seasoned guides carry. Wandr's US-licensed providers translate that into a prescription and travel-medicine plan, then review it for each traveler's history and itinerary. The process is online: a traveler completes an intake, a provider reviews it, and the curated kit is tailored to the specific expedition rather than pulled off a shelf. Travelers can see how the review works on Wandr's how it works page and explore the underlying polar and expedition travel-medicine plan. Clinical decisions always rest with the reviewing provider, and travelers obtain prescribed medications through pharmacy fulfillment.
About PolarExplorers
PolarExplorers has spent three decades guiding expeditions in some of the world's harshest and most beautiful environments, with a reputation for exceptional, custom-built adventures for serious travelers. That field experience, earned guiding more than 500 people to the North Pole, South Pole, and across Greenland, is what shapes the practical side of each curated kit: the realities of cold, distance, and self-reliance the kit is designed around.
What's next
The two companies will introduce the curated kits across PolarExplorers' core programs over the coming season, starting with its North Pole and South Pole Last Degree trips and Greenland crossings. From there, Wandr Health plans to extend the curated-kit model to other operators who run trips into remote and demanding environments, building expedition-specific kits with the partners who know those environments best.
